The Land Conservancy of New Jersey, an environmental nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving land and water resources to empower individuals and communities to protect open space, has passed a resolution in support of saving the Drew Forest!
An overflow crowd turned out Monday evening to support a Borough Council vote to apply for Morris County grant funding to acquire the Drew Forest and preserve it into the future.
Wildlife Preserves, a private, nonprofit land conservation corporation dedicated to the preservation of natural areas, open space, wildlife, and wildlife habitats for conservation, education, and research., has written a letter in support of saving the Drew Forest!
MADISON - Rep. Mikie Sherrill, D-11, has submitted a Community Project Funding (CPF) request of $5 million to the House Appropriations Committee to support the preservation of the Drew University Forest Preserve.
Sherrill submitted the request along with 14 other CPF requests for the 11th Congressional District for Fiscal Year 2024, according to a Monday, April 17 statement from the congresswoman’s office. The requests may be included in the text of the 2024 appropriations bill and marked up by the House Appropriations Committee later this year.
Parisppany-Troy Hills, commonly known as Parsippany, is a township in Morris County that has passed a resolution in support of saving the Drew Forest!

Madison Mayor Robert Conley is once again calling on Drew University officials to meet with him to discuss the preservation of the environmentally sensitive Drew Forest.
Dr. Douglas Tallamy, a wildlife ecologist and best-selling author, has issued a public plea to save the Drew Forest.
The Garden Club of New Jersey, the state affiliate and a charter member of the non-profit educational organization National Garden Clubs, Inc., supports saving the Drew Forest!
“‘Nearly $13,000 remained of the funds raised through the efforts of Save Noe Pond and GSWA. We decided to put those resources to good use,’ said Rich Rein, one of the liaisons of Save Noe Pond.
The GSWA saw a natural connection with Save Noe Pond, a group dedicated to protecting the historic Noe Pond property from over-development that would bring substantial harm to the delicate wetlands and wildlife on and around the property, including the land adjacent to the Great Swamp National Wildlife Refuge, GSWA Executive Director Sally Rubin said.”

ENVIRONMENT NEW JERSEY SAYS: “Drew University, in the North Jersey town of Madison, is not called the “University in the Forest” for nothing. On its property is a 53-acre forest: the Drew Forest. There, you can find some of the oldest trees in the region; you can also find students conducting research for their environmental science classes and visitors enjoying the trails. Unfortunately, the forest is under threat – there is a plan to sell off some of the forest and open it to development. With our allies, we have opposed this plan and called for permanent protection in the form of a “conservation sale” where the land would be sold to a buyer who would conserve rather than develop it.”
Environment New Jersey: “On behalf of four local, regional and state environmental organizations, and our hundreds of thousands of citizen members and activists, we wish to issue our vociferous support for the full conservation of the entire 53 acres of the Drew University Forest. There are many land-use battles across the state, some that are waged with scant environmental evidence. This is not one of them, and the double whammy precedent of the potential development of such a unique ecosystem that the Drew University Forest represents along with the actions by the University hoping to cash out one of its most treasured places compel us to action.”
The Association of New Jersey Environmental Commissions, a statewide organization that provides leadership, education, and support for strong state and environmental policy, has written a letter of support to save the Drew Forest!
New Jersey Highlands Coalition has written a letter of support of saving the Drew Forest!
Passaic River Coalition, an urban watershed association active since 1969 in protecting water quality and quantity of the entire Passaic River watershed, has passed a resolution in support of saving the Drew Forest!
“Great Swamp Watershed Association is proud to support this important preservation initiative,” stated Sally Rubin, GSWA Executive Director. “The Drew Forest is an invaluable natural resource that will be lost forever if the Borough is ordered by the court to allow construction and the land is fragmented by development.”
The Great Swamp Watershed Association, an environmental nonprofit dedicated to protecting and improving the health of the Passaic River through science, education, land preservation and stewardship, and advocacy, has passed a resolution in support of saving the Drew Forest!
The Native Plant Society of New Jersey, a statewide non-profit organization dedicated to the appreciation, protection, and study of New Jersey’s native flora, has issued a resolution in support of saving the Drew Forest!
Schiff Nature Preserve, a non-profit Natural Lands Trust and Nature Center in Mendham, NJ, has passed a resolution in support of saving the Drew Forest!
Chatham Township has unanimously passed a resolution in support of preserving the Drew Forest Preserve!
Harding Township Environmental Commission has passed a resolution in support of saving the Drew Forest!
